SOCIAL STUDIES RENAISSANCE PROJECT
We are currently working on a social studies project in class. We are using the computers in the labs to research Renaissance individuals. Each group has chosen the Renaissance individual they would like to study for their project. One focus for this project is to research, in an organized fashion, and understand the specific contributions of their chosen individual to the Renaissance. For example, they might develop an understanding of how the individual influenced society in the development of a humanist worldview. A second focus is on presentating this information in a visual format. The information should be presented in a clear and interesting manner. For example, posters should not be jumbled with text that require the audience to read pages of information. This is not an essay project.
Students who are making video presentations will have a couple periods to create storyboards as well as a detailed script. Those who are doing poster presentations will use this time to develop well-planned outlines for their posters (including specific information and layout). This will be proof of organization for the project.
All students will also be responsible for handing in a reference page and proof of organized research information. We have begun developing the reference page and organized research page in class. Students are able to email this information home if it is not completed in class.
Each student has received three rubrics which will be used for grading this project. Most of it will be completed in class, but he may be required to do a little planning, and some of teh final work at home. The project will not be due until the beginning of the week after next, probably around the 21st, but we will finish working on it in class next week.
